I thought I’d break it down into a step by step guide so if you’re new, then you’ll know what to expect. Because although massage is relaxing it can be daunting arriving for a treatment for the first time
Getting in contact and making a booking.
You can call, email, message here or head to my online booking. Feel free to ask questions beforehand to see if I’m the right massage therapist for you. Sometimes I might not be and I’ll do my best to signpost you an alternative if so.
Once you’ve requested a time and date I’ll get in contact to confirm, send my address and take a deposit. There’s also a short consultation to fill in beforehand to give me an idea of how I can help you.
On the day we have a thorough consultation before the treatment. And you can ask me questions too. I might look at your range of movement, and ask about your work, lifestyle, and sleep.
I leave the treatment room to let you get ready, you get cosy on the couch, cover yourself up and call me back in.
We might start with compressions, myofascial work or hot stones, and move into some Trigger point therapy, deep tissue, rocking, joint mobilisations, therapeutic stretching to name some techniques that I use. You’re in control of the pressure, its not “No pain, no gain” here. And the treatment as a whole will be very relaxing. Chances are you’ll drift off to sleep! Although you’re welcome to ask any questions you may have.
I often include Indian head massage, face or foot massage as part of the treatment too. You don’t need to make your mind up in advance of the treatment, just let me know and I’ll incorporate it on the day. Or leave it out, say if you normally love head massage but you’re heading back to work or out for dinner ad don’t want messy hair. Some days I make the treatments super relaxing if you’ve had a stressful time and need to switch off, other times they will be a bit more focused on stretching if thats what you need (or perhaps you have a meeting later and don’t want to drop fully into that dreamy massage state).
After your treatment
I’ll maybe suggest stretches where appropriate or some other form of self care. Sometimes it’s as simple as suggesting you get home and snuggle up on the sofa. It’s surprisingly hard to do this for ourselves sometimes, but somehow easier if it’s been recommended.
I have a card machine to take payments, so no need to remember cash.
My regulars book their next appointments straightaway to secure the times they want but you’re welcome to book your next appointment online if you’d prefer. If you’d like to learn more, please do get in touch.
