Complete Calm: Massage therapy for women

Welcome

Hello and welcome! I’m Fiona, and I help busy women ease aches, tension, and stress through deeply relaxing yet effective therapeutic massage for women. Life can be hectic, with work, family, and everyday responsibilities taking their toll on your body and mind. My aim is to help you feel calmer, more mobile, and truly nurtured.

Want to know about me and how I became a massage therapist?

Who this page is for

Massage therapy for women who:

  • Spend long hours at a desk or on their feet
  • Carry tension and stress in the neck, shoulders, back, or hips
  • Want a relaxing, yet therapeutic massage to reduce stress, ease pain, and recharge

Why massage helps

Relieves pain and tension

Targeted techniques help reduce neck and shoulder pain, ease tight muscles, and improve mobility in common trouble spots such as the neck, shoulders, and lower back. Treatment often focuses on areas including the trapezius (upper back/neck), rhomboids (between shoulder blades), levator scapulae (side of neck), erector spinae (along the spine), gluteal muscles, and hamstrings.

Eases stress and promotes relaxation

Massage calms the nervous system, lowering stress and helping you feel more balanced and grounded. It’s a wonderful way to ease stress for women who need a moment to relax.

Encourages local circulation

Massage improves blood flow in the areas being treated, bringing oxygen and nutrients to tissues and helping remove waste products. This is a subtle but important benefit of therapeutic massage techniques.

Supports everyday challenges

Massage can help with muscle stiffness, sleep disruption, and mood changes, which often accompany busy lives or the hormonal fluctuations of perimenopause and menopause. Regular sessions of therapeutic massage for women can make a noticeable difference.

My approach

I blend clinical knowledge with nurturing care. Depending on your needs, my treatments often include:

  • Therapeutic massage for targeted pain relief
  • Trigger point therapy to release specific tight spots in muscles
  • Myofascial techniques to address deeper connective tissue restrictions
  • Assisted stretches to improve mobility and ease tension
  • Hot stones to soothe muscles and enhance relaxation

Optional face, head, and foot massage can be included for extra calming effects. Self-care tips are demonstrated after your session to help you extend the benefits of the massage and improve mobility at home.

Choosing a treatment

Relax

A deeply calming treatment. Relax massage gives you the chance to switch off completely, reduce tension, and enjoy a nurturing experience.

Restore

A more therapeutic treatment with trigger point therapy, myofascial techniques, and assisted stretches.

Many sessions sit between Relax and Restore, for example, working deeply on neck and shoulder tension, then switching to more relaxing massage for the rest of the treatment.
We start with a thorough consultation for your first treatment and a shorter chat before follow-up sessions so your massage is tailored to your needs.

FAQ

  • Do I need to be flexible for assisted stretches?
No, all stretches are adapted to your comfort.
  • How often should I have a massage?
Many clients find 4–5 weeks ideal for ongoing treatment to reduce pain, then move to sessions for general relaxation.
  • Can massage help with changes in energy or muscle tightness?
Yes. Massage helps reduce muscle tension, improve sleep, and manage stress and mood changes.
  • What should I wear?
You undress to your level of comfort (you keep knickers on; and a bra is optional). You are covered with a warm sheet and blanket, only the area being treated is uncovered. So if I’m massaging your back, everywhere else is covered up. I know what it’s like to feel self-conscious so I’ll do my utmost to help you feel at ease.
I leave the room while you get changed and on to the couch.
  • I’m pregnant, do you do pregnancy massage?
I do, from 12 weeks. And it’s a lovely way to relax and nurture yourself while you’re growing a baby
  • Do you have a loo?
Yes, a bathroom for client’s use is available next to the treatment room.
  • I’m allergic to some things. Can I have a treatment?
Please call or message me before booking. I have cats although they’re not allowed in the treatment room!
I use a few different massage oils, all plain, simple and generally hypoallergenic, but it’s best to check beforehand.
  • I’m not good with stairs. Where is your treatment room?
I’m afraid it is on the second floor of my home. Ask me for recommendations and I’ll do my best to find an alternative massage therapist
  • How do I pay?
    Card payments please.
  • Where can I park?
There’s disc zone parking on the street outside and it’s fairly easy to park during the day. If you don’t have a disc I’ll give you a permit. If you’d prefer to park in town the Jubilee is a 10-15 minute walk.
  • How long have you been a massage therapist?
At the time of writing (Sept 2025) it’s been 11 years since I qualified in July 2014, and 10 years since I set up Complete Calm in 2015.
  • Is it tiring being a massage therapist?
Not as tiring as you might think, it can be a little tiring being on my feet all day. But I stretch between treatments, do yoga and I lift weights three times a week which helps immensely!
